With over 25 years’ experience in the beauty, well-being and spa industry, Dr. Glenis Wade unites relaxing treatments with stress-reduction training in one effective suite of packages, the ‘Department of Calm’, now available at K West Hotel & Spa in Shepherd’s Bush, London.
‘The Department of Calm’ is a series of advanced treatment packages inspired by Glenis’ 30 years of work in the spa industry. The packages offer workplace wellbeing solutions catering especially for individuals. Glenis began working in this area after noticing that many people turn away from the corporate wellness programs available to them, and instead prefer to take control of their own well-being.
All of the packages are formulated with the aim to help individuals cope with work stress in a more manageable way. The treatment blends one-to-one coaching with a relaxing spa activity, in turn creating a personalised resilience program to stress. Having been phase-tested across Five-Star spas and salons in London, the unique packages are based on business research, Glenis’ counselling skills and her early background as one of London’s top Beauty and Spa Therapists.
On settling down at the award-winning K Spa, Glenis said: “I’m really excited to meet a set of like-minded team members at K West Hotel & Spa who, like me, see the importance of supporting guests and local residents to cope with the chaos of organisational change, business problems and difficult management styles. That is why I created the Department of Calm suite of advanced spa treatment packages”.
Glenis began her career in the 1980s, training at the Knightsbridge College of Beauty Therapy and going on to work as a therapist for prestigious companies Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, The Phillimore Club Spa and The Green Rooms. Glenis worked her way from Therapist to Trainer to Manager, and was affiliated with five-star venues located in Notting Hill and Knightsbridge, as well as with celebrity clients in America and prestigious families in Qatar. Having specialised in the training and development of beauty and spa therapists and running specialist treatment courses throughout the UK for large British salon chains, Glenis began to run her own treatment practise in The City of London.
After returning to Higher Education, Glenis lectured in Management for university business schools for over ten years, and is now a General Consultant, Coach and Trainer for workplace well-being across a wide range of sectors. Her work fuses psychology and workplace wellbeing, and is appropriate for both individuals and corporates.
