Nov 2006 Guests at K West Hotel & Spa can now create their own mini bar with their tipple of choice, thanks to the special new vending machines that have been installed. K West Hotel & Spa is the first hotel in London to launch the new vending machines, designed to offer guests a wider choice of drinks and snacks, as well as a more convenient way to pay. The new vending machines act as luxury mini-bars, located on each of the six floors of the hotel. These will replace the mini bars in the rooms and have the advantage of being cashless. Guests simply swipe their room key in the funky new vending machine, make their selection and the doors will open. The sophisticated system then transfers the charge directly onto guests’ hotel bills, meaning that valuable time is saved during checkout. With the introduction of the new vending machines, guests are guaranteed to find a full drinks and snacks selection. Guests can also fill their own ice bucket from the ice machines in the corridors and chill in their room with their favourite cold beverage. The vending machines have been provided by Apogee International, which is the only independent vending service in Europe. David Wood of Apogee International said: “A major advantage of vending machines is that guests have easy access to drinks and snacks 24 hours a day. K West is a trend setting hotel and following this move we believe many other hotels will follow the hotel’s decision”.
